India and the United States linked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation in production and marketing of environmentally friendly manner and in accordance with national priorities and social economic development goals.
A statement from the ministry of new and renewable energy said eight specific arrears are identified for collaborative activities. Biofuel feedstock production based on sustainable biomass would be carried out with active involvement of local communities though non edible oil bearing plantations on wastelands.
Under the MoU, thrust would be on production and development of quality planting materials and high sugar containing variety of sugarcane, sweet sorghum, sugar and cassava.
